Snips, Snails, & Puppy Dog Tails Birthday!

 Benjamin, a sweet little friend of ours recently turned one!  His mom picked out the theme, "Snips, Snails, & Puppy Dog Tails" for his first birthday party.  She had this adorable invitation handmade for the event.

I blurred out sweet Benjamin in respect of privacy for my customers.  He really is a doll though. :)
Here are the treats:

The cake for guests.  And not pictured is his smash cake, which looked just like the top part of this cake.

And his cupcakes:

We had so much fun celebrating you, Benjamin!  Happy 1st Birthday!!!!

Happy Birthday Luke

Luke turned one this past December and his mom loved the cake I did for my son's first birthday!  She wanted the exact same cake.  It was fun to make my son's cake again because I got to re-live his first birthday (which seems like forever ago!).  If you missed that post, click here.

I also made some cookies to go with the cake.  This was a small order but a cute one!

Happy 1st Birthday Luke!!!

Baby Crosby

Another cute baby shower cake to share!

Ashley, one of the shower hostesses sent over this adorable baby shower invitation and then said to do whatever!  I love those orders! :)  She has ordered from me in the past so she had full confidence that I could come up with something that she would like. (Thanks Ashley!)

I had so much fun with this cake.  I was able to try out a new technique and I got to make bow-tie onesies!

 The top and bottom layers are both iced in buttercream.  The dark navy chevron is actually modeling chocolate, and the onesies are white fondant.  The bowties are made out of sugar as well.

The bunting banner was really cute.  I loved the paper I found as well as his name.

Thanks for the order Ashley!  I hope you loved it as much as I do!

To Infinity And Beyond!!!

I had the joy of making a Buzz Lightyear cake for a sweet little boy turning two.  He LOVES Buzz and the family was having a small celebration so this is the cake I made for them.

That Buzz is a toy I found at Target.  He's pretty cool.  Press his red button and he lights up.  I bet the birthday boy will love this cake even more when he realizes he has a new Buzz to play with!

Happy 2nd Birthday Luke!

Train Cookies & Cupcakes

Remember my little giveaway?  If not, here is the post.  The winner was my college friend, Jena.   She wanted to cash in on her FREE cookies for her son's 2nd birthday.  Apparently he LOVES trains.  I think most boys do at that age.  My little guy is only one but I have a feeling trains will be my life soon. :)

Anyway, I asked if she wanted Thomas the Train, but she mentioned just a general train will do.  She also wanted some cupcakes to go along with the cookies.  So here they are!

Jena's FREE cookies!

Here are the tops of the cupcakes.  I already boxed them up before I realized I didn't take any photos.  Oops.  I used a variety of cupcake wrappers to add something else to the cupcakes.

Happy Birthday Grayson and thanks for the order Jena!

Waiting for Baby B!

My friend Kelly keeps me busy; and I LIKE it!

She recently ordered some decorated butter cookies from me to have on hand at the delivery of her son, Brooks.  She is due any day now so I needed to get them made!  The great thing about these cookies, is that they freeze pretty well.  The icing hardens a bit more than brand-new-fresh, but it's amazing how well they keep once defrosted.

Put them in a ziploc freezer bag and then inside of a plastic or glass food container with locks on the side.  This should keep them safe from freezer burn.  When defrosting, take them out of the container and bag and let them sit on a counter.  Make sure they are not stacked while defrosting.  You should be good to go after that.

We are so excited to meet you Brooks!!!

Frogs, Snails, & Puppy Dog Tails

My good friend, Kelly, had her baby shower today!  I didn't help host this shower, but I did make the treats!

The theme was Frogs, Snails, & Puppy Dog Tails.  I've yet to make anything for this theme so I was excited!  The invitation had polka dots and chevron so I definitely wanted to incorporate both of those design elements, however, I didn't want it to be too girly.

Dont' you just love the froggy?  He's my favorite. :)

I added fondant to the board this time and used a wood-impression mat.  I thought it made the overall look even more boy-ish.  The poor little puppy got a little fat because I put his head on too soon and it squished part of his body.  He still looked cute though.

This was also my first time to put fondant onto buttercream in the ever-so-popular chevron print.  Man alive, did it give me a run for my money!  They make specialized cutters out there to achieve that look without having to cut the fondant (as you can see is what I did), but they're all too small.  I couldn't find a cutter with the right height on it.  (Maybe I should make one myself.... if only I had time, sigh).

Chevron butter cookies drying.  Check out this tutorial on how to make chevron cookies.  Thank you Sugarbelle, I couldn't have accomplished this without you.

I also made butter cookies with a brown letter 'B' and the white and blue chevron print.  I love this color blue.  It reminds me of hydrangeas, and not baby blue.  So pretty.  And very southern.

This was a very fun order and I really enjoyed trying out new tricks!  Thanks for the order ladies!

Baby Hayes

It's baby season!  I recently helped host two baby showers back to back for very close friends of mine.  This shower happened to be out of town, but I wasn't going to let a little road trip stop me from making some cute treats for this vintage baseball baby shower!

{I made white chocolate covered Oreos, decorated like baseballs; strawberry cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting; and classic vanilla cake}

{This baseball is NOT made out of sugar! :) It's a paper-weight from Hobby Lobby}

{Some of the girls came up with this cute way to display old-fashioned sodas}

{Strawberry cupcakes with handmade cupcake picks}

{My friend and mom-to-be, Courtni, LOVES Oreos; so, these were perfect!}

I had so much fun helping host this shower and we loved celebrating Courtni and Baby Hayes!  We can't wait to meet you sweet boy!!!

Ahoy, It's a BOY!

A few weekends ago, I helped host a baby shower for my dear friend Steffi.  She is expecting a boy later this summer and so we decided to go with 'ahoy, it's a boy' theme.  There are some ridiculously adorable ideas out there on the web for this theme.  I had TOO much fun coming up with multiple treats for the shower.

{Sailboat butter cookies for guests to take home}

{Vanilla cake pops covered in white chocolate and lemon cupcakes with blue buttercream icing}

{Baby Ryan's cake in Steffi's favorite flavor, Sour Cream Kahlua, to match the shower invitations and the dessert stand}

We CAN'T wait to meet sweet baby RYAN!

Baron Turns ONE!

I recently had the privilege of working on a special little project for a special little boy up in New York. I met his mom, Teresa, through my sister while out in California.

She ordered some cute monkey cupcake toppers for her son's first birthday.  I have never shipped anything fondant so I didn't really know how it would turn out.  Luckily, everything arrived in one piece and Baron had a great first birthday!

Thanks for the order Teresa!

The New Normal?

I played soccer for like 8 years growing up.  And in those 8 years, we were given orange slices as the after-the-game snack. Maybe the occasional Capri Sun, but you could always count on orange slices.

I recently did an order for a neighbor who needed to bring this week's game snack and she wanted some homemade decorated butter cookies!  She had tasted my Easter Egg's I recently made so she thought the kids would love these as their snack.  What a great idea!  I would have loved these as a kid.

Each little boy got a soccer ball with his name on it.  I made a few extras of course, for all the younger siblings that needed a snack too for sitting there so long. :)

Thanks for asking me to do the order!
