Back to Baking

Hey Y'all!  I'm back!

2014 was one crazy year in my life personally.  I can't believe we're almost half way into 2015.  I feel like I'm still recovering from 2014.

To recap, I moved three times and gave birth to my second baby.  It was a lot and I hope I'm done moving for at least a few years.

I've been very, very busy loving on my sweet new baby that was born this past October.  I've been baking here and there but nothing like what I used to do.  There's just no time!  Taking care of two little ones is so much work, especially when one is high energy 99.9% of the time, like my son. :)

I want to share a few of the past projects I had but forgot to share.  There's some good ones!

Birthdays
This was for a former student's birthday party

Birkin Bag cookies?!?  Yes, please.

I love, love, love this first birthday cake.  How sweet is this??

Girlie Curious George Birthday Cake
Might be the hardest birthday cake I've ever done.  It turned out so cool though.

And the cupcakes that went with the fire truck cake.

Showers

Bridal Shower Cake.  I love the colors and sugar flowers on top.

Baby Shower

It's been nice to have a break but it feels great to get back to my hobby with benefits. :)
Baking is definitely an outlet for me so thank you for the orders and the opportunity to practice my creative side!

Penelope's Baptism

Sweet Baby Penelope was recently baptized and I did her treats for the reception afterward.  Her mom ordered a cake and cookies to match the invitation she had made.

I purchased the sugar flower and cross at a local bake shop here in Houston.

The cookies were eventually packaged up but here's what they looked like before they were bagged.

She also ordered a small cake for her grandma's birthday.

Congratulations Baby Penelope!

Back from Holiday!

I've been really enjoying my time off work.  I haven't been doing anything- no emails, no photos, no baking (except for personal consumption), and no cleaning TONS of dishes from baking!  It's been so nice.

I left on my holiday break without posting all of my orders from the end of November and December though.  So here's to a little catch-up!

First up, is a very small, yet very adorable, baby shower cake for an old college friend of my husband.

It's iced in buttercream with a small, white fondant onesie on top.  Simple and cute!

Thanks for the order Kim!

The same weekend, I had an order for a first birthday for a little girl.  The mom saw this post from my blog and really loved the cake.  So, she wanted me to recreate that with a little tweaking and then make a smash cake for her daughter.  Here they are:

I think this is the third cake I've done like this and I still love it.  I love this version of it too.  The added aqua works really well with it.

Happy 1st Birthday sweet Adeline!

Trendy Baby Shower

I just did these this morning actually!   A friend was hosting a small baby shower and needed some cute cupcakes to go with her black & white chevron napkins and hot pink plates.  I hand-painted the chevron on the white fondant, which was a bit time consuming but I love the finished product.  I hope they go perfectly with the event!

Thanks for the order Tamaron & Brooke!

Birthday Cookies

This order was actually from a donation I made to a church bible study group for a FREE one-dozen cookie order.  The lucky winner was a sweet girl in this bible study that I'm in and she wanted to take advantage right away!  She said she had several September birthdays in the family and just said to make them girlie.

I decided to go with pink and orange because I'm loving that color combo right now.  I also love cookies that look like cupcakes.  I think they're fun.  :)  I made some very tiny pink fondant flowers to go on the orange scalloped cookies to add a little flare.  I will say though, that I'm a bit disappointed in the bleeding that occurred on the orange cookies.  The humidity down here gets me sometimes and it got me this time.  When I piped the letters it looked perfectly fine, but after about ten minutes, it started to swell and bleed. :(  It was a bummer but they still turned out pretty cute.

Would you like to win a free dozen cookies from CreateBakeLove?  Share a post from my blog on your Facebook page, then email me the link to createbakelove (at) gmail.com to let me know and you'll be entered.  One entry per person.  Offer ends on Monday, October 7th at 11:59 p.m.  You must be in the Houston area, and willing to pick up your FREE cookies.
