Time Flies Birthday

A friend of mine just celebrated her little man's first birthday.  The theme was "Time Flies" and she played up the airplanes, vintage feel, and retro colors.   She has great taste and I knew she would come up with something clever and cute.

Here is the invitation she had personally made for the party

She only wanted decorated cookies and didn't want them packaged so here is the finished product:

The red and white ribbon isn't edible but I thought the "1" needed a little extra something. :)

All boxed up and ready to go!

Tutu Birthday

I've been getting lots of orders for tutu cakes and cupcakes.  It is very popular among the little girls around here.

This order was for a first birthday as well.  I did some regular size cupcakes and then the mini cupcakes were the tutu's for the kids.  The cake was done in all buttercream and I got to use my new ruffle tip for the bottom layer!

Snips, Snails, & Puppy Dog Tails Birthday!

Benjamin, a sweet little friend of ours recently turned one!  His mom picked out the theme, "Snips, Snails, & Puppy Dog Tails" for his first birthday party.  She had this adorable invitation handmade for the event.

I blurred out sweet Benjamin in respect of privacy for my customers.  He really is a doll though. :)
Here are the treats:

The cake for guests.  And not pictured is his smash cake, which looked just like the top part of this cake.

And his cupcakes:

We had so much fun celebrating you, Benjamin!  Happy 1st Birthday!!!!

Bump in the road but I'm back!

Well Hello!  It's been a while.

My family and I decided to move at the beginning of the year and I'm just now getting back into the swing of things.  I've missed documenting so many orders and wonderful celebrations.  I apologize to all my past two month customers that don't get their own dedicated post, but this is the best I can do right now. :)  I even missed a few orders because the camera was still in a box when the order was finished.  Hopefully some pictures were taken and I can get those to share with you!

Here are the birthday cakes:
I did a Charlie Brown birthday cake for a returning customer, Katie M

A cute Sock Monkey themed order- smash cake and cupcakes for little Landry!

A customer favorite, I did this cake again for a very sweet little girl who was also my old neighbor!

Her mom was doing a chalkboard theme, with her monogram, and a blush pink color for the accents.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the chalkboard cookies.  It was a first for me and I think they turned out so cute!

She also ordered some miniature cupcakes for the little guests at the party
And this was Vivian's smash cake

And the baby shower cake I have photos for:
It was an light grey & pink shower with elephants.  The grey fondant kinda showed up blue in some lights but it was light grey when I mixed it!

The coordinating cookies for guests to take home

I love the monogrammed cookies with polka dots.  I found something similar on Pinterest and I could resist!

Again, hopefully I can get a few photos of the cakes I didn't post because I would love to have them for me and share them with you!

Happy First Birthday Julia!

Have I mentioned that I'm loving the pink and orange combo right now?!?

I received this order for a first birthday cake for a little girl turning one.  Her party was going to be at a pumpkin patch and the invitation had three little pumpkins with a cute designs on them.  Her mom sent me an email of a few cakes she liked and I fell in love with one of her favorites.  I ended up trying to recreate the cake she liked with a few tweaks to coordinate with the invitation as well.

Here it is!

She loved the tiered look of the cake but didn't need as much cake as that would make, so I came up with a plan to give it a tiered look without the extra cake.

This bottom part (the orange and white chevron) is actually not cake.  It's a cake dummy covered in paper!  The pumpkins and flowers going around the bottom are made out of sugar, as is the name banner, but not the bottom of the cake.

So, the only real cake part is the top which was covered in white fondant and decorated using fondant.  Everything is edible except the orange bows holding the draped pennant banner and the cupcake wrapper on the top.  I mounded the icing at the very top on the cupcake to give it the height it needed for the finished look.  I made the orange "1" a few days earlier to make sure it was nice and dry.

She also wanted some cupcakes, large and small, to go with the cake.  Since the event was at a pumpkin patch, it was a lot easier to eat cupcakes than slice a cake.  I made this custom cupcake stand to hold the cupcakes and to go with the cake.

I loved how it all turned out and I hope she had a great first birthday!

Happy Birthday Julia!!

Happy Birthday Mason!

My son, Mason, turned one this past August.  Posting something about his birthday treats has been on my to-do list for WAY too long.  So here we finally go.

We went with a whale theme using various shades of blue and teals with orange for his party.  It was so cute!  I figured we're going to be having a spider-, super-, bat- and whatever-else-man thing out there party in the coming future, I'd better choose something cutsie that I want to do. :)

Unfortunately, he is not able to eat cake at this time because of some food allergy issues.  So, believe it or not, I didn't spend much time on his cake.  It was enough to feed everyone at the party but it wasn't an over-the-top cake with tons of leftovers.  (He enjoyed a bowl of his version of banana ice cream (pureed frozen bananas) and loved every second of it).

I put the small cake on top of a fish bowl filled with water and some blue rocks to go with the theme.

The cupcakes were a variety of designs.  I used a chevron imprinted mat to make the teal background on the anchor toppers.  The anchors, as well as the whales, are made out of sugar and were previously purchased for a separate order.  I made the "1" toppers out of cutters I already had.

The cupcakes and cakepops actually went onto this custom stand that I made to go with the decor.  I built it out of foam board and found some speciality glitter paper at Hob Lob to make the waves.  I'm sure this will probably be the first and last time Mason has glitter at this birthday party.

I loved how it all turned out.  He had no clue what was going on but I sure had a good time! :)

Happy Birthday sweet boy!!!

Baron Turns ONE!

I recently had the privilege of working on a special little project for a special little boy up in New York. I met his mom, Teresa, through my sister while out in California.

She ordered some cute monkey cupcake toppers for her son's first birthday.  I have never shipped anything fondant so I didn't really know how it would turn out.  Luckily, everything arrived in one piece and Baron had a great first birthday!

Thanks for the order Teresa!
